Users and administrators benefit from advanced single sign-on and Active Sync features
Helsinki, Finland - 20 November 2007 - Stonesoft, an innovative
provider of integrated network security and business continuity solutions, introduces the new,
Windows Vista -compatible StoneGate SSL VPN 1.1 for fault-tolerant connectivity and enhanced ease
of use.
StoneGate SSL VPN 1.1. provides reliable connectivity, ensuring highly available services
with fully assured access points. Fault-tolerant sessions are enabled with two appliances that form
a mirrored access-point pair. Combined with StoneGate Firewall and its inbuilt load balancing
functionality, StoneGate SSL VPN 1.1 ensures not only secure access but also undisturbed
information availability.
“StoneGate SSL VPN 1.1 is an ideal solution for organizations who want to provide flexible
mobile access to critical business information at any time, from anywhere, and with any device.
StoneGate SSL VPN offers total mobility, efficient security and ultimate ease of administration in
a single solution”, says
Katriina Maanoja, Product Marketing Manager of Stonesoft. ”W
ith StoneGate SSL VPN, organizations can improve their efficiency and stay ahead of the
competition by acting on up-to-date information.”
In the unlikely case of an access point failure, the end user session can be automatically
directed to a functioning access point without any delay or disturbance. Back-up configuration is
realized in active-active mode so that under normal circumstances, both SSL VPN appliances act as
regular SSL VPN access points, sharing the access load and providing additional capacity for the
SSL portal. This way, every appliance investment can be fully utilized even in backed-up networks.
The secondary access point can also be placed in a different geographical location, which allows
companies to efficiently meet disaster recovery requirements.
StoneGate SSL VPN 1.1. takes ease of use to a new level for both users and administrators.
The new, advanced features include extended single sing-on. Whereas previously single sign-on has
been limited to only web applications, now users can access also the most common applications with
a single username and password.
For administrators, the new StoneGate SSL VPN 1.1 provides, among other things, a tool for
easy configuration of end-user single sing-on. The adaptive, self-configuring setup tool examines
the login page of the application and automatically configures the settings, thus making the
implementation even easier than before.
Both administrators and users benefit from the ActiveSync functionality for Microsoft Office,
which provides an easy yet secure way to keep e-mails and calendars up-to-date. Thus, organizations
no longer need to choose between investing in a separate push mail application or using the
continuous, but often costly webmail connectivity. Moreover, with the new device lock mechanism for
ActiveSync, StoneGate SSL VPN 1.1 provides increased security also in case the device gets lost or
stolen, ensuring that company confidential information cannot be exploited.
StoneGate SSL VPN 1.1. will be available for shipping in January 2008.
