Stonesoft shortlisted for the 2008 Techworld awards
StoneGate IPS nominated for the Techworld IPS/IDS Product of the Year
Reading, UK – 27 May 2008 – Stonesoft, an innovative provider of
integrated network security and business continuity solutions, is continuing its run of product
success with a nomination for a coveted Techworld award. StoneGate with IPS has been nominated in
the category; Techworld 2008 IPS/IDS Product of the Year.
The product that has been put forward for the award, StoneGate IPS/IDS (Intrusion
Prevention/Detection System), defends networks by enabling comprehensive, multi-dimensional network
security, providing intelligent defense throughout the enterprise network. Launched in May 2007
(for IPS 4.0 software) and January of this year for IPS hardware appliances, the StoneGate IPS
protects vulnerable applications and operating systems from network threats against client and
server vulnerabilities in the Intranet and DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). StoneGate IPS uses multiple
analysis techniques to identify and prevent network traffic abuse, including DoS (Denial of
Service) attacks and communications from unwanted applications such as Peer-to-Peer and streaming
media.
StoneGate IPS, firewall, and VPN are designed to work together. The remote upgrade feature
and centralised IPS configuration, along with incident handling, backup and restore functions
lighten the IT administrator’s daily routines. Dynamic blacklists to firewall and IPS can be used
to quarantine hosts or networks that have been detected to contain worms or otherwise harmful
traffic.
