New StoneGate FW-1060 and IPS-1060 appliances offer cost-efficient intranet protection
Helsinki, Finland –23 June, 2009– Stonesoft, an innovative
provider of integrated network security and business continuity solutions, introduces the new
StoneGate FW-1060 and IPS-1060 for efficient proactive defense. Client-based attacks target
employee browsers inside the network, trying to use them as stepping stones to attack the
organization’s internal servers and information. The new StoneGate appliances help to prevent this
and to separate workstations and servers in different network segments cost-efficiently.
Efficient network segmentation
There are two ways to create network segments and to protect them: either by separating them
at the network level or at the data link level. The first approach requires changes in
IP-addressing and routing, whereas the second one is more transparent to users. StoneGate Firewall
FW-1060 separates networks at the network level and StoneGate Intrusion Prevention System IPS-1060
provides transparent protection that does not require any changes to the existing network topology.
The StoneGate™ FW-1060 FW/VPN appliance is a firewall solution designed for environments
ranging from a few hundreds to a few thousands of users. With the capacity of up to 2 Gbit/s
StoneGate FW/VPN appliance meets the security needs of medium traffic main sites or branch offices.
With eight interfaces StoneGate FW-1060 offers also the possibility for efficient network
segmentation.
StoneGate FW-1060 provides reliable data security as well as high availability features,
which guarantee continuous information flow. Built-in firewall clustering, server load balancing
and the possibility to utilize reserve ISP capacity on overloaded Internet connections guarantee
continuous network connectivity.
Proactive defense
StoneGate™ IPS-1060 Intrusion Prevention System is a proactive defense system designed to
detect malicious packets within regular network traffic and to prevent intrusions. The solution
detects and blocks offending traffic automatically before any damage occurs.
With the capacity of up to 600 Mbit/s StoneGate IPS-1060 is designed for branch offices, DMZ’s
, extranet or internal network segments. The appliance features both sensor and analyzer
functionalities, offering flexible protection for environments requiring ultimate ease of use.
Protection against hidden Web attacks
The new StoneGate FW-1060 and IPS-1060 are also capable of inspecting encrypted Web traffic
(SSL inspection). This eliminates the traditional blind spot in network protection. The new
appliance provides protection against attacks hidden inside the encrypted Web connection for both
corporate network users and public Web services.
