StoneGate FW-1030 FW/VPN appliance offers next generation firewall capabilities
New appliance inspects encrypted web traffic
Helsinki, Finland – 26 May 2009 – Stonesoft, an innovative

StoneGate FW-1030 appliance with next generation firewall capabilities.
The StoneGate® FW-1030 FW/VPN appliance is a
next generation firewall
solution designed for the needs of small enterprises and remote offices with tens to hundreds of
users.
FW-1030 can be used for perimeter protection and to segment internal networks – for example
to prevent computer worms from spreading and contaminating the internal network. The solution
provides not only reliable data security but also high-availability features, which guarantee
continuous information flow.

New generation of features
FW-1030 introduces a new generation of previously unseen features such as efficient traffic inspection and SSL decryption. These features allow remote offices to use Internet services directly and safely without rerouting the traffic through corporate security centers.Many Internet services and web sites use encryption to protect their customer data. However, encryption prevents legacy firewalls from seeing into the traffic and preventing embedded attacks. It is very difficult for a regular user to see, whether a website is hacked and might contain attacks. StoneGate network security solutions can eliminate the problem. StoneGate FW-1030 safely opens the web traffic encryption and automatically stops hidden attacks. After the traffic has been cleaned, it is encrypted again and sent to the user.
FW-1030 guarantees continuous network connectivity through built-in firewall clustering, server load balancing and the possibility to utilize reserve ISP capacity on overloaded Internet connections. The new solid-state disk technology replaces hard disks, which provides a more reliable and durable storage system with low power usage.
StoneGate FW-1030 includes the standard UTM features deep inspection and IPS fingerprinting for HTTP, IMAP4, POP3, SIP and SMTP. Anti-virus engine for web and email traffic is available as an option with an additional license.
