Strengthens StoneGate Secure Connectivity Solution with high availability management component for disaster recovery best practices
ATLANTA - June 5, 2007 - Stonesoft Corporation, an innovative
provider of integrated network security and resilient connectivity solutions, today announced the
StoneGate Management Center and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) 4.0 with features that increase
overall business continuity and threat detection. The new versions, which are part of the latest
StoneGate™ Secure Connectivity Solution, provide disaster recovery capabilities for backup security
systems control in the event of a network failure and smarter detection features to prevent encoded
data attacks.
The new version of the StoneGate Management Center is designed to meet disaster recovery best
practices with a high-availability utility that allows organizations to cluster up to five
management devices - one primary and four standby units - for distributed and enhanced network
security control. With real-time data replication across all management servers, the
StoneGate Management Center can provide an up-to-date view of security policies, configuration and
security device status, alerts, and reports in the event of a data center loss.
“This year is forecasted to be one of the busiest Atlantic Ocean hurricane seasons, making it
critical for coastal area companies to ensure that kernel networks are backed up, eliminating a
single point of failure. We help companies integrate network technologies with seamless
failover and flexible management, giving them access to remote systems and ensuring business
continuity in the wake of a disaster,” said
Gavin Dent, director of business development for CCS Group
Limited. “As a Bermuda-based network integrator, our enterprise customers need effective network
security tools to support contingency plans. Based on experience working with Stonesoft
solutions, the StoneGate Platform consistently maintains our customers’ connectivity, despite power
outages.”
StoneGate Management Center 4.0’s latest disaster recovery enhancements further complement
Stonesoft’s superior business continuity solutions, including Multi-Link technology.
Stonesoft’s patented Multi-Link technology provides customers with continuous uptime, ISP load
balancing and efficient Internet connectivity. This is a critical piece of the StoneGate Platform -
a unified centrally managed firewall, VPN and IPS - that provides increased value to distributed
organizations that require reliable and flexible network security tools to maintain always-on
connectivity.
Stonesoft also is releasing its new IPS software, version 4.0, which offers increased threat
prevention against HTTP POST attacks (see recent release:
StoneGate™
IPS Detects and Blocks Attacks That Use New Evasion Techniques Announced by CERT/CC) through
the use of regular expressions and protocol anomaly detection. Traditional IPS solutions rely on
signatures to define intrusions and do not currently have the capabilities to fully decode
Fullwidth Unicode encoded HTTP POST data - a vulnerability that leaves Web servers open to
attacks. With regular expressions, Stonesoft developed a more sophisticated signatures
approach that not only identifies the host attack but can also intercept all of its variants,
eliminating the need to create numerous signatures.
Available now, StoneGate IPS 4.0 offers a more advanced method of scanning network traffic
and can identify types of encoding variations, eliminating emerging security threats to Web
servers.
