Administrators often require up-to-date documentation of their network configuration. However, in general, diagrams created with a third-party diagramming tool must be constantly updated by hand and are almost always out of date. Once the diagram is done, the system still needs to be configured, thus duplicating the work.
The Diagram Editor is an integrated tool for diagramming your network configuration. While you diagram the network, at the same time you can create the network elements needed for the security engine configuration. The same network elements are found throughout the Management Center.
The changes to the layout are immediately available everywhere. There is no duplicate effort and you have up-to-date documentation of your network security infrastructure. The tool also helps you to document the existing configurations by automatically creating a new diagram from the selected network elements.
Complex networks may have tens, hundreds, or even thousands of locations that run security
engines. It may be difficult to locate the source of problems. The Diagrams solve the problem by
showing the status of all StoneGate nodes: firewall and IPS engines, log servers and management
servers. You do not need a separate network monitoring system.
The possibility to view the status of a StoneGate node in a network diagram means that it is possible to spot and locate problem areas at a single glance. You get a status overview of the whole network. This saves time even when everything works, but, more importantly, allows quicker response to problems.
