Main Drivers for IT and Security Infrastructure

In order to ensure that information does not fall into the wrong hands, and that the information is accessible to those who need it while making critical decisions as fast as possible to save someone's life, health care organizations have to consider data security and data availability.

It is not really an option to have network connections down at a critical moment when patient information is needed to make an important decision on care strategy.

Managing patients' privacy and data is necessary for clinical research. Combining this information in a way to comply with regulations like HIPAA is complex at best. Not only that but also managing the diagnostic data and the clinical and hospital interfaces is a burden on already diminishing IT budgets.

The mission is to collect, archive, combine and share data across different parts of an institution or system. This needs to be done securely and efficiently to provide the best possible care for patients, and the best possible resources for researchers while complying with policies and regulations.
