Bob Walder

Bob Walder is a research director in the ITL Systems Security and Risk (Infrastructure Protection) team. Based in the south of France, his primary coverage area is network security.

Mr. Walder is a seasoned security professional with more than 28 years of IT experience, the last 18 of which have been exclusively in security. He has experience in all aspects of information security, including carrier space and enterprise perimeter down to the desktop level, and he has helped clients implement comprehensive enterprisewide security policies.

Through his work with NSS Labs, he gained an extensive knowledge of a wide range of security products, including PKI, IDS, IPS, firewall/NGFW, UTM, AV, NAC, DLP, content filtering, deep packet inspection, vulnerability assessment, e-mail security, WAF and security event management. As part of this work, he was also responsible for developing industry-leading test methodologies for each of these product areas, as well as equipping and running an independent test laboratory capable of exhaustive testing of security effectiveness, suitability for PCI DSS compliance and performance up to multi-Gigabit levels.

Mr. Walder has written numerous articles and features for leading trade and news publications, as well as reports that have been used by Fortune 500 companies to aid them in selecting best-of-breed security products. He has also been called on to speak regularly at security events and
